Can the dead hear?
by AmyWatson916 inthe "what does the bible really teach?
" book says we cannot speak to the dead (page 64) and that the dead do not hear (page 58) but on page 68 the book has jesus talking to a dead man and the dead man apparently hearing and responding.
the same thing happens on page 69 when peter talks to a dead woman and the dead woman apparently hears and responds.

Amy, you are clearly concerned with what the Bible actually means. I suggest that you are on to a loser in this cause because there is no integrated, comprehensive "meaning" to the Bible.
It was never written from scratch with a meaning in mind, research shows that it is a collection of texts promoting worship of the tribal gods containing uplifting but unreasonable hope in saviours of one form or another. It also carries a large dose of warning threat of calamity for disobedience.
A better approach, should you have the time and inclination, is to understand the reasons why the Bible was collected together as an anthology of ancient handwritten texts.
Another avenue would be to find out why the human psyche has formerly depended on religious fantasy above scholarly and scientific fact.
It is completely possible to waste one's life believing things which have had the label "Holy" attached to it.
Far, far better is to answer questions starting from the base of concrete reality-- as opposed to the book of the shenanigans of the Hebrew God or the rantings of the Christ cults in the Greek scriptures.

This is a txt message I just had with a JW
by joe134cd inthe following is a txt message i just had with a jw about why i decided not to attend meeting.
i fully realize that this will get me blocked.. jw : you dont want to answer me why you dont go to the meetings.. joe : ok.. (1) the 2 witness rule in the handling of a accusations of child sex abuse.. (2)the covering it up and out of court settlements that they are making to victims of sexual abuse.
unfortunatley the brothers and sisters are totally unaware of what is going on and the magnitude of it.. (3) the comments of geoffrey jackson when testifying before the australian royal commision on its handling of child sex abuse.

Well done Joe, they asked and you replied truthfully. You are also aware of the consequences of criticising the holy Watchtower religion.
It's never a matter of right and wrong with them, it's a matter of loyalty to the club. A member has to give up personal opinions, common sense and reason and in a state of self denial bow before the mighty GB.
They are not worth it and you have made your stand against this ignorant harmful cult. Well done for speaking out!

Jws are taught that Big J has an organisation (which is now and then disciplined, deserted or rewarded) because it seems there is perpetual repetition of the phrase "God's people" in the Watchtower.
This is of course a total fiction, It is impossible to identify Jehovah let alone "his people" or what he does with them.

The number of extremely poor people in the world, reduced by more than half between 1981 and 2013, mainly in China
by fulltimestudent ina review of global poverty in the economist makes the claim:.
quote: "the world bank, which tracks poverty, estimates that 1.9bn people were extremely poor in 1981. in that year, the poor accounted for 42% of the world’s population.
in 2013, by contrast, only 767m people were poor.

Would You EVER Go Back To Being A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus ini could never understand why some people who know the truth about the "truth" ever go back.
once you understand all the hypocrisy and negatives, i would think it's almost impossible to go back!.

"There is no leader in the governing body, it is our leader Jesus who tells them what to do." Really?
Since when did Jesus start to talk to the Watchtower organisation? If this is true; how does he talk to them? What has Jesus ever said to anybody in the last 140 years? Is it then Jesus who is telling them porky pies about 1914, 1919, 1925, 1975 etc or are these the bits which the Watchtower leaders have concocted themselves? What's the use of having an invisible leader who misleads? Jesus should be sacked!

What do You Think About Hybrid and Electric Cars?
by Village Idiot inbattery technology has been making leaps and bounds in affordability and energy output throughout the past decade.
while pure electric cars currently have limited range, the near future holds prospects for longer ranges.
hybrids, and recently plug in hybrids, have a mileage of up to 50 mpg* giving them a range of 500 miles from a ten gallon gas tank.

As it happens I have just test driven half a dozen all electric and hybrid cars for comparison and concluded that the Prius has the best compromises for town and long dIstance use. I don't think it looks that pretty but after a couple of weeks of use it gets 73.3 miles to the UK gallon. It has an1800cc petrol engine, it generates its own electricity from the engine and regenerative braking so it never needs plugging in anywhere. The other bonus is that it is really quiet at any speed. I managed to get about three thousand pounds off by using other garages offers as a bargaining point.
